Your Neighborhood Farmers Market Association is always looking for volunteers. We rely heavily on volunteers from the community to help our market remain a fun and inviting place, and it’s a great way to get to know our vendors and other members of the community.
This is a FARM-TASTIC way we can grow as a community and stand together for a great cause! You will be supporting us in our very important mission:
"Eating Fresh and Supporting Locals by helping educate one neighborhood/community at a time."
Supporting Roles
We are a year-around market we need weekly volunteers before, during, and after market. Tasks include set up, placing and collecting signage, supervising children’s activities, assisting the market manager in the running of the market, greeting and helping customers, assisting vendors and closing down at the end of market. Volunteers may work either a half day, or all day. Along with general volunteering to help the market run smoothly, here are some more specific positions we currently hope to fill:
Market Volunteers - assist market staff and members/vendor with setting up the market in the morning and/or cleanup in the afternoon, placing & collecting signage, attracting people to the market (wearing fun costumes)
Greenhouse Information Booth - greet guests, answer questions, collecting emails, getting customers to familiarize themselves with YNFMA social media pages, and help get kids signed up for the Kidpreneur Farmers Club!
Little Farmers Volunteer - assist with planning and managing children’s learning activities at market, help get kids more involved with the local community and eating healthy. Help with the vendor education set-up!
Farm to Table Program Volunteer - help with YNFMA culinary education program such as cooking demonstrations and market tastings. Events don't happen weekly, so contact us to be on call for these opportunities
Butterfly Projects Volunteer - assist in the development, planning, promotion, signage and management farmers market. Help create an educational curriculum for sustainability skills, like food preservation, cooking, composting, etc.
Photography Volunteer – We’re always looking for great pictures of our market and in front of the YNFMA picture booth, vendors and products! Take photographs and document the farmers market and other special events.
Market Ambassador – Greet market customers, answer any question they may have, collect emails, helps with the hourly customer counts, collect and write down any customer suggestions, distributing promotional material.
Special Events/Farm to Table Volunteer – Assist in the planning, setup, execution and breakdown of events. The annual Farm to Table fundraiser takes place each year to help offset market expenses.
